The seven emirates are built differently, and what is built decides which screen will physically go into your opening. The Dubai coast and central Abu Dhabi are towers with aluminium sliding sashes and panoramic balcony exits. What works there is a screen that runs on a guide or folds like a concertina: throwing a sash outward on the fortieth floor is impossible, and building management would not allow it in any case. Villa communities produce an entirely different list of openings. Wide doors to the garden, floor-to-ceiling windows, an arch over a stairwell, a three-metre opening to the pool. Here you more often need pleated or a sliding system, and sometimes a made-to-measure construction, because standard widths do not reach. The northern emirates are denser and older. Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain have many buildings with turning sashes and ordinary hinged doors, which take a simple framed screen on hooks, the cheapest thing to make. Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah add terrain: villas at the foot of the mountains, low-rise quarters by the water, hotel blocks along the beaches. The climate is not uniform either. Fine sand comes off the desert, and inland people take a denser fabric. Around the mangrove lagoons of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah there are noticeably more mosquitoes than in a dry quarter in the middle of a city. The east coast lives with high humidity and winter rain, and there the fixings and the metal take the punishment. That is why the emirate pages are written separately rather than copied from one template.

We travel across all the emirates, and you name the time slot when you place the request. For towers and gated communities, tell us in advance whether security needs a pass and whether building management requires notice of works: the paperwork usually takes longer than the survey itself. Ask about visitor parking too — in dense quarters there may be nothing free by the entrance. If the building has quiet hours, or work is only allowed on weekdays, say so at once and we will fit around it. We work 7 days a week, public holidays included.
