Fujairah stands on the east coast, beyond the mountains, and the climate here is noticeably more humid than in Dubai. For a screen that means two things: the fabric takes longer to dry after rain, and the metal in the opening needs more attention.

Where we travel
What is built here
Fujairah's building stock is mixed. On the coast there are hotels and residential blocks with a water view, where balcony doors and terraces appear. Inland and up the slopes come settlements of ordinary low-rise building with standard windows.
Humidity is the main difference from the west coast. Fabric dries more slowly after rain, and if the screen stands in shade the moisture lingers on it. Fibreglass takes that in its stride, but cheap hardware made of the wrong metal starts to seize. Hence the practical advice: on the Fujairah coast do not economise on hardware — here it ages faster than the fabric.
Second: the mountains produce sharp changes in wind. In the narrow places between slopes the flow strengthens, and light constructions such as magnetic screens do not survive there.
Third, and important for addresses: Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn lie nearby on the east coast but belong to the emirate of Sharjah, not to Fujairah. We keep them straight, because a local spots that mistake immediately.
What we have done here
We do not yet have enough specific jobs in Fujairah to write about them honestly, and we are not going to invent any. The survey visit is free, and on site both the opening and the state of any existing screens are plain to see.
One useful observation without invention: on the east coast people come to us with repairs more often than with new installations, because hardware wears out sooner in humid air.
Getting to you
The road to Fujairah runs through the mountains and takes considerably longer than a run across Dubai. So the visit is agreed for a specific day, and we try to combine several addresses into one trip.
In hotels and on commercial premises the work is usually planned outside check-in hours. In residential buildings parking is free and a pass is rarely required.
