Liwa is an oasis on the edge of the Rub' al Khali. The dunes come right up to it, the sand here is finer and more aggressive than anywhere else we work, and it decides everything to do with a screen.

What is built here
The building is houses, farms and outbuildings among palm plantations. The windows are ordinary, often small, and the openings rectangular.
Sand is the dominant factor. The dunes are close, the winds regular, and the fine fraction penetrates deep into the weave. Here it is particularly clear that the densest screen does not mean the best: the finer the aperture, the sooner it stops passing air, and in the heat that is critical.
Second: palm plantations mean irrigation, and irrigation means water in dry country. Insects concentrate around the greenery, and in the oasis there are noticeably more of them than in the dunes.
Third: the sun in open country is harsh and the fabric ages faster. Fibreglass becomes brittle over time, and you can see it at the edge.
Fourth: farms have many non-standard openings, and screens for them are made to measure.
What we have done here
For Liwa we have no accumulated data on jobs, and we are not going to invent any. The survey is free, but a visit here is planned in advance and well ahead.
Honestly: a single visit to Liwa is a journey of its own. If screens are needed for several houses or for a whole farm, say so at once.
Getting to you
Liwa is the furthest of all our addresses from Dubai. The drive takes a long time, so the visit is agreed in advance and combined with other Western Region addresses.
Access is unrestricted, and there is parking and a driveway at the houses and farms.

Second is the sun: the thread dries out and breaks along the edge. The mechanics suffer less, because there are few sliding systems on farms.
