Pollen Filter Mesh for Allergy
The pollen filter is bought for a different reason from every other mesh on this site. Nobody chooses it because of mosquitoes; they choose it because opening a window in the wrong month costs them a week of symptoms. The weave is tight enough to hold back pollen and fine airborne particles.
01THE OPENING IS A SLOT, NOT A SQUARE: 1.2 × 0.2 MM
The standard is a 1.2 × 1.2 mm square. Here one side is cut to 0.2 mm and the fabric becomes a row of narrow slots.

What this mesh is
The unusual thing about this fabric is the shape of the aperture rather than its size. The weave is far tighter in one direction than the other, which lets it hold back small airborne particles while still passing a usable amount of air. A square weave that fine would strangle the airflow entirely.
It is not a HEPA filter and we will not pretend otherwise. A screen sits in an open window with air moving around it; it reduces what comes in, it does not purify a room. What it does reliably is cut the load, and for most people with seasonal symptoms that is the difference between an open window and a closed one.
The honest trade-off is airflow. A tighter weave passes less air than standard mesh, and in the hottest months you will notice that on a window you rely on for ventilation. In a bedroom used with air conditioning it matters far less.
When people choose it
Choose it if somebody in the household reacts to pollen or fine dust and currently keeps windows shut because of it. That is the whole case, and it is a strong one.
Choose it for a bedroom or a nursery rather than for the whole flat. The rooms where you sleep are where the load matters, and screening every window with a tighter weave costs airflow you may not want to lose.
Do not choose it as a general upgrade. If nobody in the house has symptoms you are paying for reduced airflow and no benefit.
Do not choose it next to a construction site expecting it to solve the dust: it will clog faster than anything else in the range there. Anti-sand fabric is the answer to that problem.
An allergy sufferer does not need the whole flat covered, only the two rooms where the window still gets opened.
Common questions
Is this an air filter?
No. It reduces what comes in through an open window. It does not purify a room, and we will not claim it does.
Will the room ventilate less?
Somewhat. A tighter weave passes less air, and that is the honest cost of the protection.
Will it stop dust as well?
Partly, but next to construction it clogs quickly. For sand there is a fabric made for it.
Should I fit it everywhere?
We would not. Bedrooms are where it earns its place.
Can it go into a frame I already have?
Yes, if the frame is straight it is simply re-stretched.
