Fly screen or mosquito net: one product, two names
Fly screen is the usual word in Britain, Australia and the UAE, named after the house fly in the kitchen. Many Dubai residents say mosquito net, thinking of the evening bites.
Both mean the same mesh in an aluminium frame. A mosquito net can also mean a canopy over a bed; we make screens for windows and doors.

What a mosquito net cannot do
Better to know this before you order.
Stop fine dust
Standard mesh is sized for insects, so most fine dust passes. Anti-dust mesh holds more of it.
Hold a child leaning on it
A screen is not a barrier against falls. Keep windows locked and furniture away from them.
Shade a sunny room
Standard mesh gives little shade. Anti-glare or blackout mesh cuts the glare.
Drilling, care and repair of mosquito screens
Most screens fix to the window or door frame with a few small screws. Some windows take clip-on frames, and a sliding screen can run in a spare track channel with no drilling.
Vacuum the tracks after a shamal and rinse the mesh now and then. Torn mesh is replaced in the old frame from AED 200, and a new handle is AED 50.

Yes. Each screen is made to measure for the windows and doors you already have, and the glass stays as it is.
Do you drill into my windows, doors or walls?+
Usually a few small screws go into the frame, not the wall. Clip-on window frames and sliding screens in a spare channel need no drilling.
Can I see through the mesh, and does air still come in?+
Yes. Standard mesh looks a shade darker than open glass and lets most of the breeze through; denser meshes such as anti-dust let through less.
What frame colours are there?+
White, or the RAL colour of your window frames, powder coated. Repainting an existing frame costs AED 250 per running metre.
How long do fly screens last in Dubai's heat?+
Sun, sand and daily use wear the mesh first, and it is replaced in the same frame from AED 200. The frame carries a 5 year warranty.
