Standard fibreglass mesh is glass yarn in a PVC coating, grey or black. It keeps mosquitoes, flies and moths out and lets through the most air and light of any mesh we fit. It costs AED 400 per m², so a fixed frame screen for a 1.5 × 1.2 m window comes to AED 720.

What standard mosquito mesh is made of
Thin glass fibre yarn is coated in PVC and woven into a square grid. The coating keeps the yarn from fraying, gives the colour and has no metal in it to rust.
Grey sits quietly on white and light frames. Black suits anthracite RAL 7016 or black RAL 9005, and a dark mesh is the easier one to look through from inside.

Cleaning and re-meshing a standard screen
After a dusty day, vacuum the mesh on low power. For a full wash, lift a fixed frame out and rinse it with mild soap.
Skip abrasive pads, stiff brushes and pressure washers: they strip the coating. A torn screen gets new grey or black mesh for AED 200, or AED 300 on frames up to 2 m wide.

How much is standard fibreglass mesh in Dubai?+
AED 400 per m² of screen. A 1.5 × 1.2 m window is 1.8 m², so a fixed frame screen with standard mesh comes to AED 720.
Is standard mesh fine enough for mosquitoes?+
Yes. It is woven for mosquitoes, house flies and moths. The smallest midges can slip through, and anti-dust mesh is denser for them.
Grey or black: which is less visible?+
Black is usually easier to look through from inside. Grey blends better with white frames.
Does fibreglass mesh rust near the sea?+
No. It is glass yarn in a PVC coating with no metal in it, so it suits balconies in the Marina, JBR and on the Palm.
What is the difference between standard and reinforced mesh?+
Reinforced has a thicker yarn for busy doors and windy floors, at AED 600 per m² against AED 400.
Can you put standard mesh into my old frame?+
Yes, if the frame is sound. New grey or black mesh is AED 200 per screen, or AED 300 for fibreglass on frames up to 2 m wide.
Do pleated screens use standard mesh?+
No. Pleated screens carry their own folding mesh with a 0.8 × 0.8 mm cell and are priced per opening, from AED 380 for a window.
