Mosquito Nets and Screens in Sharjah
In Sharjah people most often ask for something inexpensive and quick, and for the local housing that exists: a framed screen on hooks in a turning sash. The survey is free and we come at a time that suits you. The item carries a two-year warranty, and you can get an indicative figure from the calculator before you even call.
01THE HOUSING IS OF MIXED AGE
The quarters around Khalid Lagoon, Al Majaz, Al Taawun and Al Khan are built with houses of some years: old-series aluminium windows and tracks packed up over years of service.
02AN OLD PROFILE DECIDES THE FIXING
Standard Z-plates do not always sit, and then it is hooks, pins or a fixing into the reveal. That comes out at the survey.
03THE COAST AND THE INTERIOR LIVE DIFFERENTLY
By the water the hardware gives first; inland it is the mesh under UV. The same order is specified differently in the two places.
04WHAT MAKES WORK EASIER HERE
- Tower rules are softer than Dubai's: a pass is often not needed
- Warning the concierge is enough
- The visit is set for a specific day
- Several screens are taken to the workshop at once — that costs less
What is built here
Sharjah is first of all family housing, and housing of mixed age. The quarters around Khalid Lagoon — Al Majaz, Al Taawun and Al Khan — are built with buildings that already have years behind them: aluminium windows of older series, sliding and turning sashes, guides packed with dust from years of service. The profile in such buildings differs from block to block, a catalogue screen will not go in, and the dimensions are taken as found. Water adds work: the lagoon runs right through the city, Al Mamzar is next door, and in the evenings small insects fly by the water that a coarse aperture will not stop. Muwaileh, Al Qasimia and the university part of the city are dense multi-storey rental with glazed balconies. A flat is taken for a year, people move out, others move in, and hence the demand for screens that come off without a trace and travel with the tenant. Al Dhaid, inland, lives differently: farms, palm gardens, irrigation, plenty of water in the ground and, as a result, plenty of insects in season. And the exclaves on the east coast are their own story. Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn belong administratively to Sharjah although they lie beyond the mountains on the Gulf of Oman, and the climate there is more humid than in the city. Salt in the air reaches the fixings faster, so hardware for the coast is chosen for resistance.
What we have done here
We will not show you a single completed job in Sharjah, and here is why: the company keeps no address records by emirate, and we are not going to invent a list of buildings for the sake of a good-looking line on a website. Assume we are coming to your quarter for the first time. It makes no difference to quality, because every screen is made from a fresh survey rather than from a memory of the building next door. The order of events: a request, a call from a specialist within 10 minutes, a free survey visit at the hour you name. On site the surveyor looks at the sash, checks the condition of the frame and says which system will fit and what it will cost.
Getting to you
Traffic between Dubai and Sharjah is heavy morning and evening, so we hit a midday slot more accurately than a rush-hour one. Mention it when ordering if timing matters to you. In apartment blocks, check with security where long profile can be carried in and whether the service lift is working. The road to Khor Fakkan, Kalba and Dibba Al Hisn goes through the mountains; we travel there on an agreed date rather than on the day you call.

Common questions
Our sashes open inwards. Will the screen get in the way?
It will not. For a turning sash the screen goes outside the opening on hooks and never crosses the window's path. The sash opens inwards freely and the handle stays reachable. This is the simplest and cheapest of our options.
We rent. Can we take the screen with us when we move?
Yes, if you choose a removable version. A framed screen on hooks and a magnetic one come off by hand and leave almost no trace in the opening. At the new address the dimensions will almost certainly differ, so decide in advance whether to take it or leave it.
Aren't Khor Fakkan and Kalba part of Fujairah?
No, both belong to Sharjah, as does Dibba Al Hisn, even though they stand on the east coast beyond the mountains. On this site their pages sit in the Sharjah section. It changes nothing about the terms of the order — only the date of the visit, which we agree in advance.
What will a screen for an ordinary window come to?
The calculator works from 320 AED per square metre, and the total depends on the size of the opening and the fabric. A handle at 45 AED and a child lock at 35 AED are bought separately. The calculator figure is indicative and is not an offer; the exact sum is named after the survey.
Somebody else fitted our screen. Will you repair it?
We will take it on. Most often we replace torn fabric or repair the frame, and we have a separate repair service for that. The surveyor will look at the item and say plainly whether repair makes sense or a new one is cheaper.
