A zip screen is a roller mosquito screen for open terraces and pergolas. A strip along each edge of the mesh runs locked inside a side track on the post, so a gust cannot pull it loose. You lower it by hand or with a motor, and the price is set after the free survey.
How a zip screen holds the mesh
A plain roller screen rides loose in its guides, and a strong gust can lift the mesh out. On a zip screen, a strip sewn along each edge travels locked inside the side track.
The mesh stays held along its full height, from the cassette under the beam down to the floor. When the terrace is empty, it rolls back up into the cassette.

Hand or motor on a zip screen
A manual zip screen is lowered and raised by its bottom bar. It suits one or two sides you can reach from the floor and never needs a socket.
A motor sits in the cassette and runs each side from a wall switch or remote. It needs power at the top of the opening, and the survey plans where the cable comes in.

What is a zip screen?+
A roller mosquito screen with a zip-like strip on both edges of the mesh. The strips run inside side tracks, so the mesh stays held from top to bottom.
Does a zip screen really stop the wind?+
It keeps the mesh in its tracks in everyday wind, so it does not flap or blow out. In a sandstorm, roll it up: flying grit can damage any mesh.
How big an opening can one zip screen cover?+
Each side of the pergola is made to its own measured size. The measurer checks the posts and beam and tells you whether a side takes one screen or two.
How is a zip screen different from a normal roller screen?+
A normal roller rides loose in its guides and suits windows. A zip screen locks the mesh edges in its tracks, which is what an open pergola needs.
Can I see through a zip screen?+
Yes. It carries insect mesh, standard or anti-dust, so you see the garden and pool a shade darker and air still comes through.
Is it the same as an outdoor zip blind?+
