Pleated Screens for Balcony Doors
On a balcony door a pleated screen earns its place twice: it folds into a narrow cassette so the balcony keeps its width, and folded away it barely reads against the frame, which matters when the view is why you took the flat.

On the thirtieth floor any taut fabric works as a sail. A pleated screen is flexible and runs softly, but 'fit it and forget the storm' is not how a balcony works.
02THE THRESHOLD IS THE TECHNICAL PART OF THE SURVEY
Balcony doors in towers have a drainage channel in the sill. The track must not block it, or rain water turns back into the room.
03THE CASSETTE SIDE IS DECIDED ON SITE
The balcony is narrow, with a sofa, a drying rack or an AC unit along the wall. The cassette goes where there is clear wall in front of it — often not where you expected.

Balconies in Dubai towers are narrow, and every centimetre the screen occupies is felt when you carry something out. A pleated cassette is the narrowest option available, which is the main reason it appears on balcony doors so often.
The second reason is the view. A sliding screen parks its panel across part of the glass permanently. A pleated screen folds to a few centimetres, and when it is open the opening genuinely looks open.
The third is the air-conditioning unit. Most balconies here have one in a corner, and the cassette cannot share that corner: it will either not open or rub against it within a month. Which side the cassette goes is settled at the survey in seconds, and it is the single most common reason a screen ordered remotely has to be redone.
Height changes the requirement. Low down the complaint is insects; high up between towers the draught is constant and the fabric needs a deep guide to stay in place. The system is the same, the guide specification is not.

Common questions
How much of the balcony will it take?
Folded, a few centimetres. It is the narrowest system we fit, which is why it suits balconies.
Will it clash with the AC unit?
That is checked at the survey. It is the most common reason a remotely ordered screen has to be redone.
Will it hold on a high floor?
With a deeper guide, yes. The draught between towers is constant and a shallow channel is not enough.
