Mosquito Nets and Screens in Al Ain
We cover Al Ain with a trip from Dubai: the survey is free, we build the item in our own workshop in a day, then bring it and fit it finished. The city is low and green, so what people ask for here is most often a hinged garden door and framed screens on villa windows, with the fabric chosen against dust off the surrounding sands.
01THE CITY IS BUILT DOWN, NOT UP
Height rules keep Al Ain within a few storeys: there are no towers, and the stock is walled villas, low-rise rentals and compounds.
02A VILLA ALMOST ALWAYS HAS AN INNER COURTYARD
Separate exits to the yard and the garden are doors, not windows, and they are chosen by traffic.
03OASIS PLANTING HOLDS THE INSECTS
Irrigation and palm gardens work like the lawned communities of Dubai: evening activity by the greenery is higher than in dry streets.
04WHAT TO ALLOW FOR IN LOGISTICS
- Passes are usually not needed, parking by the houses is free
- Fitting goes without lifts or schedules
- Al Ain is further than the coast: the visit is set for a specific day
- We combine city addresses into one trip
What is built here
Al Ain is built downwards, not upwards. The height regulation holds the city to a few storeys, there are no towers, and the main housing stock is villas behind walls, low-rise rental buildings and compounds. A villa almost always has an internal courtyard, a separate entrance to the majlis and an irrigated garden. The garden is what creates the problem: drip irrigation, lawn and date palms hold moisture all year, and towards sunset the insects come to the light from the windows.
The oases with their falajes add running water right inside residential quarters. Al Jimi, Al Muwaiji, Hili and the old quarters by Al Jahili stand hard against plantings that have been watered for decades. From which one simple thing follows: in Al Ain a screen on the garden door produces a noticeable effect sooner than a screen on a bedroom window.
The second feature is the age of the glazing. The city has many villas with aluminium profile that went out of production long ago. Sashes run sideways or open outwards, the beading has dried out, the guide is packed with sand. A window like that cannot be measured over the phone: two openings that look identical in adjoining rooms produce different figures.
The third is sand. The city stands at the edge of the desert; from the Jebel Hafeet side the wind carries a fine fraction, and it settles into the aperture faster than on the coast. Fabric with a 0.8 mm aperture is taken here less against mosquitoes than against dust.
The fourth is a pleasant one: ground and first-floor windows are reachable from the ground. Fitting in Al Ain needs no cradle and no negotiation with a tower's building management, so installation day passes calmly.
What we have done here
Honestly: in Al Ain we have not a single completed address yet. We work out of Dubai, and the city beyond Jebel Ali has rarely fallen on our routes. We are not going to invent 'dozens of screens installed in Al Jimi', because the first follow-up question would expose the lie.
What is actually there. The survey in Al Ain is free, exactly as in Dubai. The surveyor brings samples of fabric and profile, measures the openings, shows you the difference between a 0.8 and a 1.2 mm aperture against the light, and leaves the figures with you. The decision is yours and nobody pushes.
If you want a sense of the numbers before the visit, send a photo of the whole opening and a shot of the tape across the width and height. We will give you an indicative range in the messages. The exact sum is confirmed only after the survey on site, and that rule is the same for every address.
Getting to you
The drive from Dubai to Al Ain eats part of a day, so trips here are gathered into a route and set for a specific date rather than 'in the next few hours'. Is entry to the compound by pass? Warn us in advance: security needs the fitter's name and the vehicle number. At a villa we will ask you to park close to the gate — the profile is long and carrying it across the whole yard is awkward. Offcuts from trimming are collected and taken away, and we drill with a vacuum so the reveals and the sill stay clean. The owner only needs to be present at the start of the survey and at sign-off.
What people fit here
Common questions
Do you really get as far as Al Ain?
We do. Our base is in Dubai and we travel to Al Ain by appointment, with the surveyor planning the trip for a specific day. We charge nothing for turning up with a tape measure. If you have several addresses in the city, say so at once: we will gather them into one visit and you will hear a date sooner.
How long does the screen take if you make it in Dubai?
Assembly takes a day once the dimensions are accepted. Then the journey is added, so the fitting date is given separately by the manager when the route across the city is put together. We will not promise installation the following morning: distance is distance, and there is no point lying about it.
The whole villa has old aluminium windows. Will it work?
It will, but the fixing is chosen on site. A discontinued profile has neither a true rebate nor a dependable face for a hook. The surveyor looks at the sash in the flesh and decides whether to set the framed screen inside the opening or hang it outside on brackets.
Mosquitoes come from the garden towards evening. Is one door enough?
Start with the door you keep open. In a villa that is usually the way out from the living room or the kitchen into the yard. A hinged screen with a closer cuts off the main flow. Bedroom windows are the second step, once it is clear where else they are getting in.
Does the warranty apply if we live far from Dubai?
It does: two years on the item, and the address makes no difference. For a warranty case we come out ourselves. One boundary stated up front: fabric torn by a cat and a sash blown out by the wind are not warranty matters — that is chargeable repair, though cheap next to a new screen.
