A screen frame on a workbench with a tool and a roll of mesh

Mosquito Net Repair in Dubai

Torn mesh, a frame that has come apart at the corner, a screen that keeps jumping off its track, a broken handle. If the frame is sound, a repair costs far less than a new screen. We take on screens of any type, including ones somebody else fitted, and collection is free.

01MEASURE IT AGAINST THE PRICE OF A NEW SCREEN

A new one runs at 320 AED per square metre. Re-meshing, rollers, brush seal and a handle fit inside that with room to spare — here a repair always wins.

02THE FITTER ARRIVES WITH THE CONSUMABLES

Mesh, spline, rollers and brush seal travel with him: those are usually what is wrong, and the job closes in one visit.

03THE PRICE IS GIVEN BEFORE ANYTHING IS UNDONE

There is no line-by-line repair price list: two windows that look identical give different amounts of work. The fitter looks and quotes on the spot.

04WHAT WE REPAIR MOST OFTEN

  • Torn and sagging mesh — re-meshed
  • A frame opened at the corners — pulled back together
  • Rollers, brush seal, handle and catch — replaced
  • Other companies' screens are taken on like our own

What we repair

Symptom
What we do about it
Mesh torn or burnt through
we re-stretch the whole sheet; we do not patch
Mesh sags and slaps in the wind
we re-tension the mesh and replace the sealing cord
The leaf sticks and takes force to move
we clean the sand out of the groove and fit new rollers and a new brush
The screen has come off and hangs by one fixing
we put it back and check whether the frame has come apart
Handle broken or catch torn out
we fit new hardware and reinforce the seat
The roll-up cassette will not wind the mesh back
we open the cassette and adjust the spring tension
A pleated screen folds crooked, the cords have gone slack
we re-tension the cords and line up the bottom profile
Mosquitoes get into the flat with the mesh intact
we look at how the screen meets the opening, not at the mesh itself

Repair or replace

The mesh gets replaced for as long as the frame is sound. You can check that yourself in a minute: lay the screen on a flat floor. If it sits on all four corners and does not rock, it can be re-stretched. If one corner lifts, the frame has twisted, and new mesh on it will sag again within a season.

The second thing to look at is the groove. If it is damaged or split along the edge, the cord has nothing to grip and re-stretching will not hold.

There is a case where we tell you not to repair. If the screen is old and the profile has gone brittle and already shows cracks at the corners, new mesh buys it a few months. It is more honest to say that at the start than to take money for work that will have to be done again.

How the repair works

Most often we collect. A technician comes, lifts the screen off the opening, takes it to the workshop, the frame is re-stretched there, and the screen comes back and goes up in place. That is faster and tidier than doing it on a balcony.

We repair on site when the screen cannot be removed: it sits in a fixed opening or it is anchored. The work then happens at your home and takes longer.

If there are several screens we take them all at once. That costs less than calling a technician out to each one in turn.

Before the visit we ask for a photograph of the part that failed. That is not a formality: the picture shows the profile type, and the technician brings the right hardware instead of coming back a second time.

What a repair costs

The price is made up of the visit and the parts. Rollers and catches are inexpensive; a cassette mechanism costs more. Re-stretching depends on the area of the frame and which mesh you choose. We will not quote over the phone, because half of the job is the condition of the frame and that is only visible in person. The inspection is free, and if the repair does not make sense we will tell you.

Someone else fitted it. Will you take it on?

Yes, we take it on. It makes no difference to us who fitted the screen: a frame is a frame and a groove is a groove. We will re-stretch somebody else's construction exactly as we would our own, with the same warranty on the work.

Who fitted the screen makes no difference: a missing part we make in our own workshop to the size we take off it.

Common questions

Can you just patch the hole?

We do not. A patch lets go and you are calling a technician again a month later. The mesh is replaced as a whole.

How do I know if the frame is still good?

Lay it on a flat floor. It should rest on all four corners without rocking.

Can I change the mesh type at the same time?

Yes, and it is a common reason for calling. If midges pass through the standard aperture we fit a finer one.

Do I have to bring it to you?

No. We come, take it down and take it away. Nothing needs transporting by you.

Is there a warranty on repairs?

Yes, on the work done and on the parts fitted.
