Wide glass doors from a villa living room to the terrace need a pleated mosquito screen built for width. Proxima and Double Centra span up to 8 m, and Corner closes a corner with no post. A standard patio door costs AED 1,550 on our list; wider spans and corners are quoted once the measurer has seen them.

The villa terrace opening in Dubai
In many Dubai villas the living room opens to the terrace and pool through a wall of sliding or lift-and-slide glass, the widest opening in the house.
The lawn sprinklers, planter trays and garden drains keep mosquitoes close to the terrace. Once the sun goes down and the glass opens, they find their way in.
On such a wall the pleated mesh parks in a slim cassette at the side. Folded, it leaves the whole view to the pool; drawn across, it turns the living room into a screened veranda.

How we plan a wide opening
Count the openings
Every door to the terrace gets its own screen, or one Corner system where two sides meet.
Pick the walk-through point
Out through the middle means Double Centra; along one side means Proxima.
Check the floor
The low flat bottom track needs a level line. Terrace tiles often fall towards a drain, so the measurer checks the fall.
Match the frames
The profile is powder coated to your frame's RAL colour. Colour costs AED 250 per running metre of profile.

What will a terrace door screen cost?+
A standard patio door is on our list at AED 1,550. Proxima, Double Centra and Corner on a wider opening are quoted at the free survey.
Can one screen cover my whole glass wall?+
Up to 8 m wide and about 3 m high, yes, with Proxima or Double Centra. A wider wall takes two screens.
Can the screen turn the corner of the terrace?+
Yes, if nothing stands in the corner where the two glass sides meet: that is the Corner system. If a post is there, we screen each side separately.
Will sand block the bottom track?+
Near the garden it collects sand. Vacuum the track now and then and the mesh keeps sliding freely.
Does the screen stay out in the sun all summer?+
It stays in the frame, folded in its cassette while you do not need it. The aluminium profile is powder coated.
