Forty towers on a 1.7 km beach
JBR was built by Dubai Properties: 40 towers in six clusters named Shams, Amwaj, Rimal, Bahar, Sadaf and Murjan, lined up along 1.7 km of beach with The Walk at their feet.
Living this close to the sand changes the choice of mesh. Wind off the beach carries fine grit, and the late sun reflects off the water straight into sea facing rooms.

Salt, sand and a quick rinse
After a windy day by the beach, salt and fine sand settle on the mesh and in the tracks. Fresh water and a soft brush bring the screen back.
Torn mesh is replaced for AED 200 per screen with standard mesh, and a new handle costs AED 50. The powder coated aluminium frame carries a 5 year warranty.

Anti-glare darkens the room a little
It works by shading. If you want every bit of daylight, stay with standard mesh.
Anti-dust needs more rinsing
It catches fine grit, so it clogs sooner than standard mesh and needs a wash more often.
Pleated screens take pleated mesh only
For anti-glare or anti-dust on a balcony door, a sliding screen is the way.

Which mesh is best for a flat facing the beach?+
Standard mesh stops mosquitoes. If sand or glare bothers you, anti-dust mesh at AED 800 per m² or anti-glare mesh at AED 650 per m² suits better.
Will the frame stand up to salt air?+
The frame is powder coated aluminium with a 5 year warranty. A rinse with fresh water now and then washes off salt and sand.
Can I have a screen on a small kitchen window?+
Yes. Vertica opens from the top down and fits small windows, from AED 380.
Can a pleated balcony screen take anti-dust mesh?+
No. Pleated screens fold their own thin mesh. For anti-dust or anti-glare on a balcony door, take a sliding screen, from AED 670.
