“The roller mechanism on our existing net broke. They replaced it with a new upgraded system that rolls smoother and locks in place better. Much better than the original.”

Mosquito nets in Al Rashidiya
Al Rashidiya is a grid of independent villas and town homes just south of Dubai International Airport. A family villa has many ways in: garden doors, ground floor windows, sometimes a majlis with its own entrance. Pleated screens for sliding garden doors cost AED 1,550 per door, French doors from AED 810, window screens from AED 400 per m².

Walk round your villa first
Does the majlis have its own door to the yard?
Screen it separately. Guests come and go there, so a pleated screen that folds away works well.
The main doors and windows are the whole job.
Do the garden doors slide apart from the middle?
Double Centra closes both halves toward the centre.
If only one leaf moves, a single pleated panel is enough.
Do you air the house through ground floor windows in winter?
Frame screens from AED 400 per m² keep insects out while they stand open at night.
Start with the doors.

Houses on a grid by the airport
Al Rashidiya covers about 4.4 km² between the airport to the north and Mirdif to the east. Its streets follow a grid, lined with independent villas and town homes where Emirati and expat families live.
Al Rashidiya Park and the gardens around each villa keep the district green. Where plants are watered, mosquitoes follow.

Where a mosquito net will not help
Gaps around an old door frame
Insects also get in under and around a door. Seal those gaps, or the screen only does half the job.
A stepped sill under a wide opening
A pleated screen needs a flat surface for its bottom track. On a stepped sill the measurer suggests another fixing or system.
