A sliding mosquito net for a window is a light mesh panel that runs in a spare channel of your aluminium window track. You push it over whichever half you open, so one screen serves both. It costs from AED 380 per window, and two screens meeting on a wide window start from AED 490.

One sliding mosquito net for both halves
Most tower windows in the Marina, JLT and Business Bay slide sideways on two glass leaves. The screen gets a channel of its own, and you push it over whichever half is open that day.
A window panel is lighter than a door one, with a slimmer frame. On a window too wide for one panel, two screens run in from each side and meet in the middle.

Look at your window track first
With the glass pushed to one side, is there a third, empty channel in the track?
The screen runs in it, and nothing is drilled.
A slim track on a flat strip of the frame may work. If not, a fixed frame or a Vertica pleated screen covers the window.
Is the window on a windy high floor?
Reinforced mesh at AED 600 per m² holds its shape in the wind.
Standard mesh at AED 400 per m² is enough.
Does a cat sit on this sill?
A paw can nudge a light panel along. A fixed frame with pet mesh at AED 800 per m² stays put.

Old screen from the developer? Keep the frame
Many flats come with sliding screens from the developer. If the frame is straight and the rollers turn, we roll new mesh into it: AED 200 standard, AED 300 metal, AED 350 aluminium.
A broken handle costs AED 50 to replace. Worn rollers are priced once we see the panel, and a bent frame means a new screen from AED 380.

Taking the panel out to wash it
Slide it to the middle
Away from the jambs, where you can hold both sides.
Lift it up
Push the panel up into the head channel until the bottom rollers clear the track.
Swing the bottom towards you
Bring it into the room, rinse the mesh with water and a soft brush, let it dry.
Put it back top first
Top edge into the head channel, then lower the rollers onto the bottom track.

No room for a screen line
The glass fills every channel and there is no flat strip on the frame. A fixed frame or a Vertica pleated screen fits instead.
Grit in the track
The rollers share the track with the glass. After a dusty day vacuum it, or the panel starts to drag.
A window that swings
Casement and tilt-and-turn windows have no track. They take a fixed frame or a roller screen.

Do fly screens on windows block the breeze?+
Standard mesh lets most of the breeze through. Anti-dust mesh is denser, so it holds back more dust and a little more air.
Is a sliding screen safe in a child's room?+
It keeps mosquitoes out but will not hold a child. Keep a window lock or restrictor on the sash as well.
