In Dubai mosquitoes breed in standing water: puddles after rain, lakes and canals, lawns that are watered every day. Rooms facing a garden, a lake or a pool need screens first.

Why pleated screens suit a nursery
A pleated screen has no spring that snaps back and no door that swings. The mesh folds only as far as you push it, and it does not slam in a draught.
Underfoot there is only a low flat track, easy to step across with the baby in your arms. A magnetic catch keeps the screen shut behind you.

Is a net over the cot enough?+
It protects the cot only while the net is closed. A screen on the window and door keeps mosquitoes out of the whole room, and you can use both.
Does a screen make the nursery darker?+
Standard mesh dims the view a little but lets daylight and air through. For daytime naps, a blackout screen darkens the room and costs AED 1,050 per m².
Can my toddler push the screen out?+
Yes, a screen is not built to hold weight. Keep a restrictor on the sash and never rely on the mesh to stop a fall.
