Al Qasimia is the central part of Sharjah, densely built with houses from many different years. Here, more often than in newer districts, people come not for a new screen but for a repair: the frames have been in place a long time, the fabric has dried out and the hardware is worn.

What is built here
The district is built with apartment blocks, many of them ageing. The windows are casements, the balconies small, and the layouts typical of their time.
The age of the stock is the main feature. Screens are already in place in many flats, but they have years behind them: the fabric dries under the sun and starts crumbling, the cord in the channel stretches, the frame corners open up. So the main request from here is re-meshing and small repairs rather than a new installation.
The second consequence of age is a variety of profiles. Frames from different decades need different fixings, and standard plates do not suit them all. That is settled on site.
Third: the centre is dense, traffic is close and city dust settles constantly. Fabric greys faster than in quiet quarters, but that is dirt rather than wear, and it washes off.
Fourth: the water is not close and there are fewer mosquitoes than in Al Majaz or Al Khan. The complaints are more often about flies and dust.

Getting to you
Access to the buildings is unrestricted and passes are usually unnecessary. Parking in the centre is tight, especially in the evening, and we allow time for that.

Ageing central stock gives a clear picture: dried-out fabric in first place, frame corners that have opened up in second. If the frame is sound, yes. Check it: lay it on the floor and it should sit on all four corners.
The fabric is crumbling — is that a repair?
The fabric gets changed and the frame stays yours. That is cheaper than a new screen.
Will the fixing suit an old frame?
It is chosen on site: in older stock the profiles differ.
Are mosquitoes a real nuisance here?
Less than by the water. The commoner complaints are flies and dust.
Can I hand over several screens at once?
Yes, and it is cheaper that way: we take them all together.
