Reinforced bird-proof mesh close up

Bird-Proof Mesh in Dubai

Bird-proof mesh is rated for weight and impact rather than for insects. A pigeon does not squeeze through a screen, it lands on it, and standard mesh sags and then leaves its groove. This fabric does not give.

01THIS MESH IS FOR AN OPENING, NOT A WHOLE BALCONY

Bird-Proof closes a window, a balcony door or a glazed bay. Netting across the whole balcony volume is an adjacent trade.

02STRENGTH AT 100%, THE TOP LINE OF THE RANGE

Aperture 1.1 × 1.1 mm, light transmission 90%. Ordinary mesh sags under a pigeon's weight and comes out of the groove after repeated impacts.

03PIGEONS READ AN OPEN OPENING AS A DOORWAY

They land on the parapet, on the AC unit, on a cornice. Then it follows the usual script: marks on the sill and an attempt at a nest.

04WHEN THIS IS YOUR CASE

  • Birds already work your floor and walk the parapet
  • They have come inside at least once
  • Mid floors of towers, above planting, near water
  • There is a cat at home that uses the balcony

What this mesh is

The difference here is not how small the holes are but how much the fabric will take. The fibre is thicker and stiffer, and the perimeter is held so a bird landing on the panel cannot work an edge loose.

That matters because the failure mode with birds is not penetration, it is detachment. Ordinary mesh survives the first landing and loses a corner on the tenth, and once an edge is out of the groove the whole sheet follows.

It is worth being clear about what this is not. Bird-proof mesh closes an opening: a balcony door, a window, a section of glazing. It is the answer if birds get into the flat through a door you leave open. It is not the same thing as netting an entire balcony against pigeons roosting on the parapet, which is a neighbouring service and a different construction.

We say that plainly because selling the wrong thing here costs the customer twice: an ordinary screen against pigeons fails quickly and creates a false sense that the problem is handled.

When people choose it

Take it if birds come into the flat through an open balcony door, or if you are on a floor where pigeons regularly land on the railing next to an opening you use.

Take it also where the mesh takes physical contact for other reasons: a busy doorway, children, a large dog. The fabric is rated for load, and load is load.

Do not take it if the real problem is birds sitting outside on the parapet. One screen does not solve that, and if they have already settled, cleaning comes before any netting.

Do not take it purely for insects. It is heavier and more visible in the opening than standard mesh, and against mosquitoes it offers nothing extra.

An ordinary screen put up against pigeons will not last, and it creates the false comfort of a solved problem.

Common questions

Will it net my whole balcony?

No. This mesh closes an opening. Netting a balcony against roosting pigeons is a neighbouring service, and we say so rather than sell the wrong thing.

Will ordinary mesh hold a pigeon?

Not for long. It sags and then works its way out of the groove.

Does the building have to approve it?

Constructions on a facade are regulated in many towers. Check with the management company first.

Is it the same as pet-proof?

Similar in spirit: both are rated for load rather than aperture. Pet-proof is specified around claws.

Birds have already settled on my balcony. Now what?

Cleaning first, protection second. A screen alone does not resolve an established roost.
